Kuretake Nihon-Date 55 fude dual-tip brush pen
Traditional brush pen
The Kuretake Nihon is an unusual brush pen from Kuretake. Its long body is gently reminiscent of traditional bamboo brushes and this follows through to the large soft nib, which is super flexible - more so than most large-tip brush pens. This is balanced out on the other end by a small hard nib, which is super fine and ideal for fine-line detail or small-scale brush lettering.
The pen is filled with deep black, water-soluble dye ink.
- Black dye-based ink
- Acid-free, archival quality ink
- Firm and flexible brush tip
- Size: 19cm long marker pens

A gorgeous dual tipped brush pen, juicy ink flow, writes beautifully, the broad brush tip creates wonderful large sweep letters creating for the thick and thin strokes easily, the fine tip allows for small delicate writing. The large brush does have a "squeak" as you write that can be a little weird if you are not expecting it, but the write quality is worth the squeak. Performs well on Dot grid and watercolour papers without bleed through. As a beginner this is a lovely pen to use.
Love this pen, so elegant & such a fantastic contrast between brush thickness. Perfect for larger calligraphy & thin calligraphy. Very glad to have in my collection. 😊
